Z Wines is the largest local distributor of South African wines. Their families had connections to the wine and food industries, owning vineyards and working on the production side for one of South Africa's largest wine producers. Friendships with winemakers provided them with access to some of the finest wines made in the Cape. Representing 13 South African Wineries, they will present examples and wonderful stories of the wines from this relatively unexplored region.

***This just in! Z Wines submitted 3 wines for the Best of Show competition at the 2013 Food and Wine Show held on March 2nd and 3rd. They won medals for the Best Imported White under $15.00, Best Sauvignon Blanc under $15.00 and Best of Show for an Imported White.

Great day at Summit with our wine club!  

8 fantastic beers on tap and a special EPA with chinook hops firkin, made just for us, that everyone loved. Yummy chili, brats, hot dogs, burgers, salads and all the fixings. Root beer and oatmeal stout floats, along with great tours of the brewery.

We had a fantastic evening, in spite of the rainstorm.  A sold out crowd enjoyed an all French Selection of wines along with a delicious grilled meal.

Voted the favorites were The Seafood Soup, L'Ermitage Blanc and the Saumur Bourgeuil

Seafood Soup could be paired with a French white wine or a light spicy red wine

Recipe:

1/2 stick butter

1/2 c. flour

1 sm. onion chopped

4 c. chicken stock

3 c. half & half

3 lbs. mixed seafood of choice (crab, shrimp scallops, salmon)

1 T. Old Bay seasoning

Pepper and Salt to taste

Chopped Chinves

Melt butter and saute onion.  Stir in flour and cook for 2 minutes over low heat.  Add chicken stock whisking until thickens.  Add half & Half and seasoning.  Cook stirring frequently.  Do no Boil.  Once desired consistency is reached (add more stock or cream, if needed) stir in seafood.  Add chives and serve.
